Novgorod athletes became world champions in universal combat

Novgorod athletes successfully performed at the World Championship in universal combat, which took place from November 1 to 4 in Novosibirsk. Governor of the Novgorod region Andrei Nikitin spoke about this in his Telegram channel.
Tigran Mirzoyan became a two-time world champion in the weight category up to 85 kg. The athlete also fulfilled the standard of the Honored Master of Sports of Russia. In the 65 kg weight category, the championship was won by Leonid Balashov, who fulfilled the standard of an International Master of Sports.
In the weight category up to 70 kg in the age category of 16-17 years, Lev Trofimov won the bronze award. All athletes train in Veliky Novgorod and are students of coach Igor Balashov.
Universal combat originated in Russia in the 90s and includes a number of disciplines such as overcoming obstacle courses, knife throwing, shooting and hand-to-hand combat. Athletes from 36 countries took part in the competition in Novosibirsk.
