November 12 – the tit will bring good luck

November 12 in the folk calendar is Sinichkin’s day. Now outside the window it is abnormally warm for November, but earlier in Rus’ frosty weather was usually already established at this time. So on this day it was customary to take care of the birds that stayed for the winter in their native lands or flew in to spend the winter from other places.

There are many birds that stay in the capital for the winter. But titmouse and bullfinches are the most famous and beloved by the inhabitants. Although, of course, in the cold you need to help all the birds. On Sinichkin Day, our ancestors built and hung bird feeders, prepared food for them – mainly seeds and nuts. Moreover, the colder it got outside, the more birds moved from the nearby forests closer to human habitation in search of food and the opportunity to warm themselves. They especially tried to lure tits closer to the house – they believed that this would bring good luck.

But it was forbidden to offend, frighten, drive away, and even more so to hunt any birds. It was believed that this could bring a lot of problems and misfortunes to a person.

But hunting for a hare on this day was very welcome. Our ancestors believed that if they managed to get at least one eared, the next year’s hunt would be successful. For good luck, the fishermen also went to Sinichkin’s Day – there was such a sign: if you manage to catch a fish, then a rich catch is guaranteed next year.

The girls on this day had a special meat diet: it was believed that if you eat hare or rabbit meat, beauty will increase, and if you taste pork and beef dishes, on the contrary, you can turn face.

In addition, according to popular belief, November 12 is a good day to make new acquaintances and give up bad habits.

As for the prohibitions, on this day it was impossible to sit idle, take risks without serious reasons, quarrel and swear, break off family or love relationships, ask for a loan and throw away food. All this did not bode well for a person, so few dared to tempt fate.

Folk signs on November 12 are mainly associated with titmouse:

– if the tit whistles – the day will be sunny, if it squeaks – it will freeze at night;

– if tits peck at the bark, it will rain;

– if the feeder has a lot of tits, frost will hit;

– if the tits are sitting on the windowsill, it will soon snow;

– if a tit flew into the house – you can expect good news or welcome guests;

– if a tit sits on a person, happiness awaits him.

From what you dreamed on the night of November 12, you can judge whether everything in your life is correct. If the dream is clear and understandable, then everything is fine, but if it is strange and confusing, then you are moving somewhere in the wrong place in life or marking time and you need to change something.
