Novak predicted a decrease in gas exports by a quarter at the end of the year

At the end of 2022, the volume of Russian gas exports may decrease by a quarter, production will be 12% less than in the same period last year. About it informed Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in an interview with TASS.

“As for gas, its production and export will be forced to fall. At the end of the year, gas production will be 12% less than in 2021, and exports will decrease by about a quarter. This is primarily due to the shutdown of the export infrastructure,” he said.

At the same time, the production and export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will increase by more than 8.7%, Novak said. According to him, since the beginning of the year, LNG supplies to the EU countries have grown to 19.4 billion cubic meters. m.

At the same time, oil production this year will increase by 2% by 2021, to 535 million tons, and exports will grow by 7.5%, to 242 million tons, despite the imposition of sanctions and a price ceiling. According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Economic Development, primary oil refining will decrease by 2.9%, to 272 million tons, while the production of motor gasoline will increase by 4.2%, to 42.5 million tons, and the production of diesel fuel – by 5.9%, up to 85 million tons.

Novak stressed that the introduction of a price ceiling, first for oil, and then for gas within 5-10 years, could provoke an aggravation of the crisis and destabilization in Europe. “In the future, this will lead to the fact that as a result of reduced investment in energy resources in the EU, it will become scarce, the world will face a shortage and a new round of crisis,” he said.
