At the moment, 9.6 million records of pledged vehicles are registered in the notary register. Compared to the same period last year, the number of such notifications increased by 16%, and compared to five years ago, the increase is almost threefold.
You can check the car for the presence of a pledge on the portal of the Federal Notary Chamber in the register of notifications of pledge of movable property. An extract from this register confirming the absence of a deposit on the car will become an official guarantee for the buyer.
If the car was pledged, but the pledge holder did not report this and the information was not entered into the register, all risks are transferred to the pledge holder. In this case, it is almost impossible to recall the car from a bona fide buyer.
Checking the availability of collateral takes only a few minutes. To do this, just enter the VIN code, PIN code, chassis or body number of the car. Alternatively, you can also check the seller information. The register provides the ability to search “by information about the mortgagor.” If this is an individual, it is necessary to indicate the last name and first name, and if a legal entity, then the full name, OGRN or INN. The system will provide information about what property is pledged to a given person or company.
If the property is present in the registry, this means that there are debts on it. If the system does not provide any information, then everything is clear and the transaction can be continued, experts explain.
