“Not our conflict”: the Germans supported Scholz’s desire to talk with Putin

Readers of the Bavarian portal BR24 supported the statement of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about his desire to continue negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone.
At the same time, many noted that the desire to conduct a dialogue is not enough, and Berlin should not have got involved in the situation in Ukraine at all.
“This is not our conflict,” user ImmerDemokratisch wrote in the comments to this news. “You see that negotiations are indispensable.”
“Ukraine is playing a cunning game to drag NATO into a proxy war with Russia,” another noted. “Germany shouldn’t care what other states are doing.”
Angharad agreed with the chancellor: “We should talk, not just rush to fight.” In Germany, as he pointed out with regret, there is a shortage of qualified politicians who understand this.
“Negotiations must continue,” the users agreed, because “we are not at war against Russia.”
Scholz, in an interview with Tagesspiegel, said that he spoke with the Russian president in early December and intends to continue contacts further, “because it is necessary to talk to each other.”
