The television debates of candidates for the legislative assembly of the Kemerovo region scheduled for August 24 on the Rossiya 1 TV channel had to be cancelled. None of the declared participants came to them – neither a representative of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, nor a representative of the Liberal Democratic Party.
“No one came to the studio, so the broadcast will continue thematic broadcasting,” Andrey Toropov, the host of the broadcast, told the viewers.
As Kommersant found out, Ekaterina Gruntovaya, who heads the list of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, met with voters at that time. The representative of the LDPR, according to the head of the Kemerovo branch of the party, Kirill Pravdin, was also busy – he participated with the leader of the LDPR, Leonid Slutsky, who arrived in the region, in election events.
The election headquarters of the United Russia and Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth parties assured Kommersant that their candidates would participate in the scheduled debates.
Elections to the Legislative Assembly of Kuzbass will be held on September 8–10. Of the 46 deputies, 23 are elected in single-mandate districts, 23 – on party lists.
