Norway joins cap on Russian oil prices

Norway has imposed a cap on Russian oil prices of $60 per barrel. About it says in a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
“Norway has imposed a cap on crude oil from Russia of $60 per barrel in accordance with sanctions rules. <...> Restricting oil prices should help reduce Russia’s revenue from the sale of crude oil to third countries.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt noted that the kingdom continues to support EU and other countries’ sanctions against Russia in order to put pressure on the Russian government and Russia’s allies.
The Norwegian Foreign Ministry recalled that the country had previously supported a ban on Russian oil supplies to Norway, the EU and third countries, which came into force on December 5.
The EU countries agreed on a price ceiling for Russian oil of $60 per barrel on December 3. The next day, the relevant document was published in the Official Journal of the EU. Limitation entered into force on December 5, along with a ban on the supply of Russian oil by sea to the EU countries. In addition to the EU countries, the G7 countries and Australia also joined the ceiling earlier.
Russian authorities have repeatedly said that Moscow will not supply fuel to countries that set a price cap or join the cap. The Kremlin said they do not accept the introduction of restrictions.
Earlier, Vedomosti, citing two sources close to the government, wrote on the development of three scenarios to respond to the limitation of prices for Russian oil. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on this information, notedthat the authorities are considering various options, and stressed that the decision will be announced after its adoption.
