Oslo may close the only border crossing between Russia and Norway, Storskog. This statement was made on Thursday, November 16, by the Norwegian Minister of Justice Emilie Enger Mehl.
The Norwegian minister’s comment followed the announcement by Finnish authorities that four checkpoints on the border with Russia would be closed.
The Russian embassy in Helsinki warned that Moscow would work out countermeasures, as well as required clarification from the Finnish side regarding the practical aspects of implementing this decision.
The head of the Estonian border service, Veiko Kommusaar, said that Tallinn also does not exclude the possibility partial or complete closure of checkpoints on the border with Russia. He stated that entry into the European Union through Estonia is possible only for those who have all the legal grounds to do so.
