North Korea has tested a solid-fuel motor for a new medium-range ballistic missile. About it reports KCNA.
The agency calls the engine “heavy-duty” and notes that its testing “has significant strategic significance.” It is specified that the first ground test of the first stage engine took place on November 11, the first test of the second stage engine took place on November 14.
The test result was “very satisfactory.” KCNA writes that the tests “created a strong guarantee” to speed up the development of a new medium-range ballistic missile. The DPRK’s Main Missile Directorate explained that this is necessary to build up the strategic offensive power of North Korea’s armed forces against the backdrop of an “unstable security situation.”
Japan said North Korea is developing a new generation of solid fuel engines to increase its ability to launch surprise attacks. Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno suggestedthat North Korea will continue “provocations, including various missile launches and nuclear tests.”
At the end of September, the DPRK enshrined in the Constitution the policy of developing nuclear forces. KCNA called the development of nuclear weapons a guarantee of the country’s “right to survival and development.” This is necessary to “suppress war and protect peace and stability in the region and the planet,” the agency added.
