Danish authorities may restrict entry for tankers carrying Russian oil that will pass through its waters. The information was reported by the Financial Times newspaper.
According to the source, Denmark will block self-propelled vessels due to new plans of the European Union. All actions of the country will be carried out within the framework of legislation, which states that any state can inspect a ship that poses a danger to the environment.
The source clarifies that 60% of Russian oil, which is sent to international markets through the Baltic Sea, passes through the Danish straits.
A spokesman for the Danish Defense Command said that only those vessels that they believe could pose a threat to maritime security will be subject to inspection. The Danish authorities themselves refused to comment on this matter.
