The International Fair of Intellectual Literature Non/fictioNspring, organized by EXPO-PARK EXHIBITION PROJECTS LLC, will be held from April 6 to 9 at Gostiny Dvor (Ilyinka, 4). The theme of the spring fair is “New Forms of the Existence of the Text”.

The intensive development of information technologies at the beginning of the third millennium led to significant changes in life in general and in the life of the book in particular. A whole range of new phenomena has emerged – e-books and libraries, audio books, personal media, ecosystems. New ways of book distribution have emerged, opportunities for author promotion through blogs and specialized communities have arisen, and the problem of piracy has become more acute. The non/fictioNspring fair will be a meeting place where experts, authors, publishers and readers will be able to discuss new forms of existence of content and books, as well as directions for their further development.

Novelties and reprints of domestic and foreign literature will be presented – bestsellers, journalism, scientific, memoir, biographical, business, reference, children’s and other literature. Among the participants are 277 large and small publishers, booksellers and cultural institutions, with an emphasis on supporting small independent intellectual publishers.

The program of the fair is 250 events: presentations of book novelties, creative meetings with authors, lectures, round tables and discussions on topical issues of book publishing. The participants of these events will be prose writers, poets, playwrights, publishers, publicists, illustrators, translators, literary critics, scientists and popularizers of science, teachers, filmmakers and film critics, travelers, cultural figures and public figures. The program will be held non-stop for all four days at nine discussion sites.

On April 8, the presentation of the book “As long as the sea belongs to us. Films and the Time of Mikhail Kalik” is a joint publishing project of the 1895.io film studies artel and the Word Order bookstore. The author of the book Natalia Balandina, director Sergei Ursulyak, musicologist Vera Tariverdiyeva and film historian Stanislav Dedinsky will talk about the contribution of director Mikhail Kalik to the development of domestic cinema.

There will be meetings and autograph sessions of authors whose books are presented at the stands of publishing houses. The guests of the section will be photographer and writer Yury Rost, art historian and curator of the Elohovskiy Gallery Lyudmila Larionova, children’s writers Alla Botvich, Zulya Stadnik and Anastasia Khachaturova and many others. Over the weekend, the Moscow Fanny Bell House Theater will present the play Adventures in the Library, and the Samokat Publishing House and the SNARK Theater will present a production based on the Peas book series by the world-famous children’s writer David Kalio. Traditionally, there will be master classes from the Seasons Project, where each participant will be able to prove himself as a designer and creator, create his own space or dream home. And also go on an exciting journey through the poem by Daniil Kharms and fill the famous “Apartment 44” with characters.

In the non/fictioNspring program, special attention will be paid to the forms of interaction of literature with other areas of culture and various areas of scientific knowledge, thereby imparting an interdisciplinary character to the upcoming fair. There are several curatorial thematic blocks, in particular, the “Design” and Science Art blocks, which will include a presentation by a specialist in artificial intelligence and machine learning Sergey Markov “Neural networks as creators. Block “Architecture” invites guests to the discussion “Why does an architect need a book. The Cinema block offers a series of creative meetings with directors, screenwriters, teachers and film historians, which will take place during all four days of the fair. Among them are the discussions “Film magazine on paper: to be or not to be?”, “Books about cinema: traditions and innovations” and “Film shelf in a bookstore”; round table “Books about Tarkovsky: how and why to write about cinema?”; presentation of the books “Italian Routes of Andrei Tarkovsky” by Lev Naumov, “The Subjunctive Mood. Conversations on the history of Russian cinema” by Armen Medvedev, the landmark publishing project “Vnukovo Archive” and a number of other events. The curator of the block is Maxim Pavlov, head of the film programs department of the State Tretyakov Gallery.

Visual arts will be presented by the works of the artist Ivan Yazykov, finalist of the Arte Laguna Prize (Venice) 2022 art and design competition. Theatrical posters were provided by the theaters “Workshop of Peter Fomenko” and “NEAR the Stanislavsky House”. And this is only a small part of the planned activities of the “Art” block. The novelties of the spring fair will include Bookstock, a special platform for book sales. Its purpose is to present in one place not only book novelties, but also those books that everyone has already forgotten a little about, but which they nevertheless love and appreciate. For four days, this area will turn into a kind of book market, where visitors to the exhibition will be able to find interesting publications at very attractive prices. Books from 18 publishers will be presented at the site.

A separate space will be allocated for representatives of children’s book publishing, where stands of children’s publishers and discussion platforms will be located. The children’s program of the fair will be held at three venues – “Territory of Knowledge”, “Books on Pillows” and “Master Classes”. As part of the program, many different events are planned for children and parents.
