Nizhny Novgorod hockey club “Torpedo” on home ice outplayed Minsk “Dynamo”. The match ended with the score 5:2 (1:1, 1:1, 3:0).
For two periods, Larionov’s team played equal hockey with Dynamo Minsk. The Nizhny Novgorod team was the first to open the scoring – the puck was scored by Andrey Belevich in the 6th minute of the first period, who opened the scoring with personal goals. Two minutes later Dynamo leveled the score – Igor Martynov ran into a counterattack on the left flank, and then completed it with a throw into the right corner. In the second period, Torpedo players continued to play their favorite attacking hockey, which brought the result in the 28th minute – Yu Sato took the puck in the middle zone, crossed the blue line, rolled out to the nickel and outplayed Dynamo goalkeeper Alexei Kolosov. The Minskers responded with a puck at the 35th minute – after another throw at the Torpedo goal, the puck hit the front board, and bounced off it to a nickel, where Pavel Varfolomeev turned out to be the quickest of all. The second period also ended with the score 1:1, 2:2 in the match after two periods.
In the third period, “Torpedo” decided to put pressure on the opponent and already at the 6th minute of the third period, Sergei Goncharuk made a pass to the right face-off circle for Nikolai Kovalenko, who flashed Alexei Kolosov with a touchdown throw. The score became 3:2.
Three minutes before the final siren, Dynamo took a risk and removed the goalkeeper to release the sixth field player, which Kirill Voronin took advantage of, hitting an empty net after an interception – 4:2.
Despite the score, Dynamo continued to play without a goalkeeper, and 1.5 minutes before the final siren, Mark Marin also hit the empty goal of Dynamo, delivering an accurate shot from his zone from the board. Score 5:2. Victory “Torpedo”!
