The assassination attempt on Zakhar Prilepin was made on May 6: his car was blown up in the village of Pionerskoye near Nizhny Novgorod. Security guard Alexander Shubin, who was sitting in the passenger seat, died on the spot. Zakhar Prilepin has both broken legs.

On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was opened under Art. 205 and Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist attack and illegal trafficking in explosives). The accused is Alexander Permyakov, a native of Ukraine. On May 8, he was arrested for two months.
