Nine reserve regiments have been created for special operation forces – Kommersant

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a meeting with group commanders at the headquarters of the joint group of forces. At the meeting, he said that the armed forces in the combat zone include nine reserve regiments. These shelves are replenished with contract soldiers.

At the meeting, the Minister of Defense heard reports from group commanders on the current situation and drew attention to the issue of training military personnel and volunteers in reserve units.

“If we return to the contract soldiers, we, as was decided by the General Staff, have formed reserve regiments for each group. Today we have nine reserve regiments that are being trained, and their natural, constant replenishment is underway,” the minister said, quoting his words press service departments.

In June, the Minister of Defense announced the formation of armed forces reserves as part of a separate army. At that time, 3,786 units of equipment were supplied for their formation.

According to the Minister of Defense, today, October 5, he also checked the work on combat training of reserve regiments at the training grounds of the Southern Military District, where both contract soldiers recruited in the last month and volunteers are being trained. In addition, Sergei Shoigu reported that 38 thousand volunteers were recruited into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces. According to him, some of them, after completing a six-month contract, go to the front for the second and even third time.

October 3 Sergei Shoigu saidthat in September more than 50 thousand people signed a contract with the department. According to him, since the beginning of the year, more than 335 thousand people have entered contract service and volunteer formations.
