The famous TV presenter Nikolai Drozdov seriously scared the fans. An 85-year-old zoologist suddenly found himself in a hospital bed with multiple fractures of the ribs of the chest. Fortunately, due to timely medical assistance, serious consequences were avoided. Today, Nikolai Nikolayevich feels better: he is already actively communicating with relatives and friends and dreams of going … to the desert.
Nikolai Nikolaevich asked not to tell anyone about his hospitalization. Only a narrow circle of people knew that the TV presenter was in the hospital. Only after there were improvements in his condition, Drozdov got in touch and spoke with MK correspondents, frankly talking about his well-being.
“They treat me very actively here in the hospital,” says Nikolai Nikolayevich. – Of course, the pain is still there, because several of my ribs are broken at once.
– Is the pain strong?
– They whine when, for example, I lie down on the bed uncomfortably. But here they give me painkillers, so everything is tolerable. By the way, I have 7 broken ribs, not 8, as they say in the press. Although this is also enough. From the third to the eighth, and the eleventh rib was damaged. Four ribs remained unbroken. These are not always too strong fractures: there are cracks in some of the ribs … Everything will heal, God forbid, with time. The treatment here is good, the doctors are excellent. The hospital is near my house. And the doctors here are wonderful.
– Did you not immediately realize that the consequences of the fall are so serious?
– No, not immediately. The pain gradually increased. At first I did not even think that everything was so serious. I didn’t even plan on going to the doctor. But then I realized that I still need to check. Doctors conducted the necessary examination and made a diagnosis. By the way, I just got back from a chest ultrasound. Now I’m waiting for the results. Before that, I was on an MRI, on a CT scan … What didn’t they do to me here!
– What do the doctors say?
“They say I have a very lucky fracture. When I slipped on the ice, I fell so that my elbow was under the ribs. This apparently helped prevent more injury. They said that it would be necessary to spend 20-25 days in the hospital. So there is a week left.
– How are you fed? Satisfied with food?
– Excellent, I like everything very much. I am a small child, so I don’t even eat everything that they bring me. You have to leave half.
– Doctors say that your bones have become fragile due to the fact that you have long excluded meat from your diet. Do you agree with this?
– Not really. Because I’ve been eating meat lately. Haven’t really used it in years. But then I had my first fracture. And the doctors said that if you do not eat meat, then fractures will happen more and more often. You see, now the ribs have reached.
What do blood tests show? Have you taken them?
– Of course. The doctors said that my body lacks potassium, sodium and some other elements. They put me on drips, they fill me up. These are all consequences of my vegetarian life. You still need to eat meat.
– Is your daughter by your side now?
Yes, daughter Lena. She lies here at her own expense, right with me in the same room. Performs the role of a nurse. There are still a few days left – and we’ll go home. I want to go home, of course. Here in the hospital – quarantine, they are afraid of covid. Therefore visits are prohibited.
Are star friends calling?
– Yes, of course … Only you, please, do not call me either a star or a legend.
– Why?
– When they call me that, it confuses me a little. Usually people who have already gone to another world are considered legends. When I hear “legend” addressed to me, I always add: “I am still alive. I’m going.” I laugh it off, because at my age I have enough worldly wisdom not to consider myself a star.
– Nikolai Nikolayevich, what do you dream about after leaving the hospital?
– Now I dream of going to Baikal – I love this place very much. Baikal is a world treasure, accounting for twenty percent of all fresh water reserves in the world. At one time, I often visited the deserts of the USSR. He even wrote his doctoral dissertation on this topic. Now there are almost no deserts left in Russia, and I probably won’t be able to go abroad, so I will study Baikal.
