Nikolai Daineko, defendant in the Mayakovsky Readings case, was sentenced to four years in prison

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow found activist Nikolai Daineko, a participant in the Mayakovsky Readings, guilty under Part 4 of Art. 280.4 of the Criminal Code (calls for action directed against the security of Russia) and Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity). He was sentenced to four years in a penal colony. It was this punishment for Nikolai Daineko that the state prosecution requested.
On September 25, 2022, on Triumfalnaya Square in Moscow, near the monument to Vladimir Mayakovsky, the poet Artem Kamardin read his poems as part of the Mayakovsky Readings. The event was also attended by Nikolai Daineko and Yegor Shtovba. In their speeches, the readers protested against the partial mobilization announced in Russia last September. So Artem Kamardin in his poems urged not to take calls. Participants of the Mayakovsky Readings were detained. The TFR considered the poetic rally an anti-war action.
The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested Nikolai Daineko in September last year. At the same time, Yegor Shtovba and Artem Kamardin were sent to the pre-trial detention center. In March, the defendants in the Mayakovsky case were also charged with “calling for activities directed against the security of the state.” The case of Nikolai Daineko was singled out as a separate proceeding, since he entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation.
