Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi left Japan. The Nikkei newspaper summed up the visit of the American.
Pelosi met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. They discussed stability in the Taiwan Strait, North Korea and the situation around Ukraine. The American congresswoman also held talks with the head of the lower house of the Japanese parliament, Hiroyuki Hosoda. She also gave a press conference in Tokyo. There, the speaker said that the United States would not allow Taiwan to be isolated.
With this visit, Pelosi completed her Asian tour. In total, she visited three countries. The most scandalous was her landing in Taiwan. China threatened tough measures in response to the visit.
Immediately after the departure of the American, the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China began large-scale military exercises with live firing in six water areas around Taiwan. They will last until noon on 7 August. The exercise program involves live firing, so the PRC authorities have warned of a ban on civilian aircraft and sea vessels to enter the corresponding six areas.
