According to information from RMC Sport, Youssef Atal, an Algerian footballer who plays for the French club Nice, may be kicked out of the club because of a video he published in support of Palestine. The 27-year-old defender posted a video on social media supporting Palestine, but later deleted the post. He also previously posted photos on social media of himself wearing an Algerian national team jersey and a scarf in Palestinian colors, but these were also deleted.
The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, spoke out about this video and demanded a public apology from the football player. He wrote on social media: “I expect Yousef Atal to apologize and condemn the actions of Hamas. If he does not do this, then he has no place in our club.”
The club itself has not yet made official statements regarding the future player.
