Newsweek: Kyiv will face a disaster if the American government shutdown

A possible US government shutdown could have a negative impact on Ukraine and benefit Russian President Vladimir Putin, Newsweek writes.
The publication notes that this situation will affect almost all areas of the American government’s activities, including participation in the conflict in Ukraine, which could result in a disaster for Kyiv.
“Strategically, a government shutdown will play into the hands of American adversaries,” the publication reports the words of a Pentagon spokesman.
In late August, the White House asked Congress for money to cover government expenses until the full 2024 budget is approved. A temporary budget is needed to avoid a government shutdown due to the depletion of financial resources. This process of stopping, called a “shutdown,” could happen as early as October 1, when the new fiscal year begins in the United States.
