Newborns plan to give the same gifts

To do this, it is necessary to establish uniform federal rules.

The initiative to make gift sets for newborns uniform in all regions is taken by representatives of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, as well as a number of organizations.

Today, these sets are formed by regional authorities, not all subjects of the Federation have equal opportunities, therefore, for example, in the Kursk region, the set includes a blanket and overalls for a baby, and in Tverskaya – more than fifty items: clothes, diapers, feeding bottles and much more.

As it became known to MK, in the State Duma, the innovation is advocated, in particular, by the first deputy chairman of the committee of the lower house of parliament on family, women and children, chairman of the All-Russian Council of Mothers Tatyana Butskaya. The parliamentarian draws attention to the fact that in recent years the birth rate in Russia has been falling: in 2021 it decreased by 3% compared to the previous one, and in 2022 by as much as 7%. Therefore, state support is more important today than ever, and the deputy proposes to bring support for young families to the federal level so that there is no current imbalance in gifts received between regions. In addition, experts note that there are quite a lot of imported goods in gift sets, and if the presence among them of products of friendly states (for example, China and partners in the EurAsEC) can be explained, then the presence in gift sets of products from Poland, Germany, Japan, the Baltic States, taking a firm anti-Russian position is difficult to understand. Gifts for newborns are funded from the state budget, and are received by producers from countries that treat Russia, to put it mildly, unfriendly.

Therefore, Butskaya and colleagues suggest, if possible, to purchase Russian goods, moreover, centrally. This, firstly, will help support young families, and secondly, help domestic producers, and thirdly, create additional jobs. The representative of Roskachestvo also proposed to establish clear conditions that must be met by products that are purchased as first gifts for babies and the body that will monitor their compliance.
