Mayor of New York to sign law on discrimination against obese people
The city council of glorious democratic traditions of New York passed a law prohibiting discrimination against well-fed citizens, reports RBC. It is known that critics of the law point to only one inevitable consequence of the application of the new rule: it will surely provoke numerous lawsuits, allowing the inhabitants of the city to “sue everyone and everything.”
The publication quotes, in particular, the leader of the opposition in the City Council, of course, a Republican. “I am overweight, but I am not a victim. No one should feel uncomfortable because of me, except for the buttons on my shirt, ”he says.
However, the author of the bill, MP Sean Abreu, also points to personal experience. He allegedly faced discrimination when he gained more than 18 kg of weight while sitting at home during the covid lockdown. By the way, he also proudly reports that he has achieved a legislative ban and discrimination based on height. Judging by the available videos, at the same time, he himself has a very average height.
