Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said at a briefing that the new US aid package will include GLSDB missiles with a range of up to 150 km. These missiles have the longest range of any projectile that Western countries have previously transferred to Ukraine.
The joint development of Boeing and Saab Group consists of two main components: an aerial bomb and a rocket engine. It is possible to launch it from the M270 and M142 HIMARS ground systems, which are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, the United States, according to Ryder at the briefing, leaves Ukraine the opportunity to use long-range shells at its discretion.
The amount of the new package of military assistance to Ukraine is estimated at $2.2 billion. The package will include air defense systems, Hawk air defense systems, missiles for the HIMARS MLRS, infantry fighting vehicles, ammunition for Javelin anti-tank missile systems, the aforementioned GLSDB with a range of up to 150 km and other military equipment of the American production.
