New teams will appear in the KFU Premier League Championship

At a press conference in Simferopol, the President of the Crimean Football Union Sergei Borodkin, summing up the results of the past season, also outlined the contours of the 2024 season. There will be changes, and these changes will please the Crimean fans.

“To sum it up, I think that the 2023 Premier League championship was a success,” says Sergei Borodkin. – And the KFS Cup – the new format in which we played it – will remain in 2024. I believe that our level of play is much higher than in 2015, when we started our first championship. Then there were two favorites – the team of Sevastopol and Simferopol “Tavriya”. Gradually all our teams became equal, we have absolutely no passing games.

Last season, the leadership of the Crimean Football Union had to look for a solution to the consequences of force majeure: the Premier League championship began with the participation of eight teams, and then there were six left.

“I think that we moved correctly and continue to move correctly,” Sergei Alexandrovich is confident. – Then two teams left: FC Sevastopol and Rubin Yalta. We finished the game with six teams – this decision was made at the presidium. Accordingly, the format of the CFS Cup was completely changed. This gave the guys the opportunity to show themselves in the Cup, because cup games are a completely separate tournament.

Answering a question about plans for holding the championship next year, Sergei Borodkin talks about expanding the list of participating teams.

“We are planning to increase our Premier League by at least two teams,” the KFU president clarifies. – Most likely, there will be 10 or 12 clubs. I’ll tell you a secret: there are already 10 clubs that are ready. If it works out, there will be 12. So that it would be convenient to play a good format in two rounds and, accordingly, play a good format of our Cup.

Innovations are also planned for our main student team, which represents Crimea in the National Student Football League, in 2024.

“It is possible that the KFU team will participate in our championship,” says Sergei Borodkin. – Three years ago, the question was raised that a separate team should be created that would allow the guys to train, play together and, accordingly, participate in the student tournament. The fact that the guys in 2023 – after three victories in a row in the NSFL – took third place, I consider a great success. There are no victories without defeats.

Returning to the football events of 2023, Sergei Borodkin highly appreciates the organization and holding of the Crimean amateur championship.

“10 clubs took part, the guys showed a very good level,” he says. – Team “Guard” from Feodosia became the winner. Its players also won the Cup. The second place was taken by the KFU team, the third by the Football Academy, and the fourth by the Orbita team from Krasnogvardeisky. These are the teams that always compete in our championship and show a good level.

As Sergei Borodkin notes, the Feodosia “Gvardiya” repeated the achievement of the Simferopol “Tavria”, becoming a champion and a cup winner in the same season.

“The Guard put gold medals in the cup,” says Sergei Borodkin. – Now there is a discussion that the team will be promoted in class. I think they will be worthy opponents in 2024. We must also give credit to our finalist – the Orbita team. Their performance was interesting. In my opinion, these are exactly the teams that can join the roster of participants in our Premier League championship.
