The developer of navigation software and maps Navitel, in which the mobile operator MTS invested, began to display belonging to the Russian Federation of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. This was reported to Vedomosti by three users from the DPR. Vedomosti made sure that when downloading the latest updated map of Russia, dated Q1 2023, the indicated regions are displayed within the borders of our country.
Navitel is the first mapping service that began to display these regions as part of the Russian Federation, although they officially became part of Russia after the referendums on September 30, 2022. Yandex.Maps generally removed the borders of states on the overview map of the world, Yandex reported back in June 2022. In Google.Maps, the territory of four regions is designated as part of Ukraine. In Maps.me, the republics are included in the “Ukraine” map package, and maps of Donetsk, Luhansk, Melitopol and Kherson are not available in the Russian 2GIS.
