The profile committee of the State Duma recommended that the parliament adopt in the first reading two government bills that change the rules for allowing citizens to drive vehicles. They provide that the State traffic inspectorate will be able to automatically terminate the rights of drivers with contraindications to driving, for example, with visual impairment or confirmed epilepsy. At the same time, driver’s medical certificates will become electronic – they will not need to be presented to the traffic police. Parliamentarians want to supplement the bills by the second reading with a norm that will oblige truck and taxi drivers to confirm their qualifications during exams once every five years.
