The elected president of the Czech Republic, a retired general of the army and former head of the NATO Military Committee, Petr Pavel, took the oath and took office as president of the country. The inauguration ceremony of the head of state, broadcast by Czech television, took place in the Vladislav Hall of Prague Castle in the presence of members of both houses of parliament and guests.
It is noted that Pavel pronounced the text of the oath from memory, after which he signed it. In the speech that followed, the incoming Czech leader assured fellow citizens that as president he would serve his country and his people honestly and faithfully.
Pavel plans to start his current affairs this Friday. In particular, the Czech leader will consider the issue of appointing a new head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and next Monday, Pavel will go on his first trip abroad in his new post – the President of the Czech Republic will pay an official visit to Slovakia.
