New codes for license plates will appear in the Moscow Region

Two new codes for license plates will soon appear in the Moscow region – 250 and 550. This was reported by the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in response to a request from RIA Novosti. New codes will be issued after the 790 area code, which was introduced in 2020, ends.
The emergence of new codes is due to the fact that more than 3.5 million cars are registered in the Moscow region, and more than 600 thousand operations are carried out annually to register, re-register and change the registration data of cars.
Currently, six different region codes are used in the Moscow region:
