The Netflix streaming service is testing TV support for video games available on the platform, which are currently only playable on mobile devices. This is reported Bloomberg with a link to the application code.
A line has appeared in the application code for smartphones, offering to use the smartphone as a gamepad when playing on the TV. If Netflix adds this feature, then the company will become a competitor to Microsoft, which in June 2022 gave owners of Samsung TVs access to the xCloud video game streaming service without a set-top box from their TVs.
Formerly Netflix informed about the expansion of the gaming direction and plans to add about 40 games to the platform in 2023. The company claims that new games will be released every month. Netflix added into a video game app in November 2021, there are now 55 projects on the platform. Netflix suspended its activities in Russia in March 2022 in connection with the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
