Leaders of Egypt, Jordan and France warned Israel against military operation in Rafah

The rulers of three countries – France, Jordan and Egypt are trying to prevent the Israeli army from invading the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip. They released a joint statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and King Abdullah II of Jordan, saying such a move would lead to a new conflict.

“We warn of the grave consequences of the Israeli invasion in Rafah, where more than 1.5 million Palestinian civilians have been forced to flee their homes. This operation will only lead to more death and suffering,” the general statement said. It was published by the Egyptian website Al Youm As-Sabia.

Heads of State contacted to the Israeli authorities calling for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2728 and a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

This statement came after the words of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a possible military operation in Rafah. Netanyahu said a date had been set for the start of hostilities, but did not specify it.
