Netanyahu took the oath of office in Israel’s 37th government, promising that his right-wing coalition would ensure political stability in the country. 63 out of 64 members of the coalition confirmed their confidence in the government.
Under the coalition agreements signed between Netanyahu’s Likud and each of his five partner parties, the new government will prioritize comprehensive judicial reform, combating the rising cost of living, and further centralizing ultra-Orthodox control over state Jewish services.
Speaking at the Knesset plenum ahead of the vote of confidence, Netanyahu outlined three top priorities for his new government: ending Iran’s nuclear program, developing state infrastructure – with a focus on connecting the periphery to the center of the country – and restoring internal security and governance.
Netanyahu led the government from 1996 to 1999, and then from 2009 to 2021, setting a record for tenure in Israel. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Netanyahu on taking office.
