Israeli TV channel Channel 13 reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formed a secret group of senior allies and security officials to discuss post-war plans for the Gaza Strip.
According to the TV channel, the corresponding group was headed by the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, and the Minister of Strategic Planning, Ron Dermer. In addition, Channel 13 indicated that it also included representatives of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Israeli intelligence service Mossad and the country’s internal security service Shin Bet.
Media reports indicate that the group has already met four times, and another one is expected to take place this week. It is noted that the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Mike Herzog, took part in the meetings.
An unnamed senior Israeli official told Channel 13 that Israel notified the US side of the group’s existence. The channel added that any conclusions reached by the team headed by Hanegbi will also be presented to the military cabinet.
