Negotiations between Putin and Lukashenko began in Sochi

The Presidents of Russia and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko began negotiations in Sochi, reported Telegram channel “Pool of the First”, close to the Belarusian leader.

At the beginning of the meeting, Putin noted that everything is stable in Russia. “Why am I saying this? Because, you and I know, the state of the Russian economy is reflected in our interaction within the Union State,” – said he, the Kremlin reports.

Putin noted that “there is a need to compare notes on some issues.” The Russian president plans to inform Lukashenko about the results of the discussion with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on the situation in the region. Putin also proposed discussing a “thorny issue” – the situation in the Ukrainian direction.

Lukashenko congratulated Putin on “a serious stage in the electoral cycle.” “I don’t even want to analyze them: probably, there have never been such results at all. And for the president, first of all, all your candidacies for the post of governor were supported by the people,” he said. Commenting on the negotiations with the leader of the DPRK, Lukashenko suggested “thinking about cooperation somewhere between three people.”

Lukashenko arrived to Russia on September 14. The main topics of the meeting will be the international agenda, regional issues, economic cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture, industry, as well as work in the field of import substitution.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov earlier, commenting on the negotiations between the two leaders in Sochi on September 15, noted that Putin and Lukashenko communicate regularly, there is a “regular comparison of watches.”

The previous meeting of the presidents of Russia and Belarus took place on July 23 in Strelna. They discussed the Wagner PMC, the external threat “along the perimeter” of the countries and the development of the Union State. At the end of August, the leaders held telephone conversations.
