The Russian delegation will not avoid meeting with the US mission during its visit to New York, where the UN Security Council will meet next week. This was stated by Russia’s permanent representative to the organization Vasily Nebenzya.
“As I said at the press conference, we do not avoid any meetings. If there is readiness on the part of the United States, we will not run away from such a meeting,” said Nebenzya (quote according to TASS).
The Russian delegation headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in the events of the organization’s Security Council at meetings on April 24 and 25.
On April 17, Nebenzya announced that Lavrov and members of the delegation accompanying him had received American visas to participate in the UN Security Council. At the same time, entry permits were not issued to members of the press, who were supposed to go to the United States together with the delegation.
Later, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova demanded from the United States to issue visas to Russian journalists to cover the participation of the minister at a meeting of the Security Council. Lavrov promised journalists to defend the right to obtain visas to the United States to cover the meeting of the UN Security Council.
