Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Ukraine’s attack on the Black Sea Fleet put an end to the humanitarian dimension of the Istanbul agreements.
He noted that Russia sees attempts to artificially speed up the inspection of cargo within the framework of the grain deal. But this initiative should not be carried out without it, so Moscow will take its own measures to inspect dry cargo ships that sail through the Black Sea without its permission. In the near future, Russia will detail its conclusions on the deal, the diplomat promised.
At the UN declared readiness to investigate the incident in the Black Sea and expressed hope for the full resumption of Russia’s participation in the work of the coordination center in Istanbul.
Formerly Vasily Nebenzya sent a letter addressed to UN Secretary General António Guterres, in which he announced the suspension of Russia’s participation in the grain deal after the terrorist attack in Sevastopol. The diplomat stressed that Moscow can no longer guarantee the safety of civilian courts.
