Nebenzia called the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine a new milestone in the disinformation campaign

The meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine, convened at the request of the United States and Albania, could become a new milestone in the anti-Russian disinformation campaign, declared Russia’s permanent representative to the organization Vasily Nebenzya. The alleged “filtering” of Ukrainians on the territory of Russia was discussed at the meeting.

“Today’s meeting, convened at the request of the United States and Albania, has every chance of becoming a new milestone in the disinformation campaign unleashed by Ukraine and its Western sponsors against our country. The tactics of the West, which is waging a hybrid war against Russia in Ukraine to the last Ukrainian, is clear to us – to denigrate the Russian Federation and the special military operation we are conducting in any way,” Nebenzya said at the meeting.

The diplomat drew the attention of his colleagues to the fact that 3.7 million refugees from Ukraine and the LDNR arrived in Russia, while 600,000 of them are children. The number of Ukrainian citizens who left for Russia is, according to the UN Refugee Agency, over 2.4 million people, he added.

“And these people are not kept in prisons, such as, for example, Guantanamo Bay, but live freely and voluntarily in Russia… Do you seriously think that so many people can be brought by force and silenced?” Nebenzya said.

Currently, there are more than 1,500 temporary accommodation centers operating on the territory of 85 constituent entities of Russia with a total capacity of more than 95,000 people. At the same time, the identification of militants of national battalions among Ukrainians who want to leave for Russia is a normal practice for any army in the world, Nebenzia believes.

“The legend of ‘mass filtration measures’ is based on interviews with several dozen people, many of whom did not travel to Russia at all, while others confirmed that they did so voluntarily,” he added.

The diplomat also said that Russia would convene a meeting of the UN Security Council on September 8 to discuss the supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries.

As of September 7, the border department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Rostov region, over 16,000 citizens crossed the border per day to enter Russia through checkpoints located in the region. According to the UN, since the beginning of the special military operation, the Ukrainian border has been crossed 11,536,470 times. At the same time, almost 5 million citizens have returned to the country since February 28. It is noted that this figure reflects cross-border movements and not individuals.
