Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya and First Deputy Permanent Representative Dmitry Polyansky left the meeting of the Security Council before the speeches of the EU representatives on Ukrainian issues.
Speaking at the UN Security Council ministerial meeting on Ukraine, Nebenzia announced an unprecedented number of delegations invited to participate: “12 EU countries in addition to High Representative Josep Borrell.” According to him, it becomes obvious that all these states, “acting from a single all-Soviet position dictated by Brussels”, will not bring any “added value” to the discussion. According to the Russian diplomat, such an approach devalues the conversation and also damages the Council’s reputation.
After the exit of the Russian diplomats, the head of European diplomacy Borrell, representatives of Slovakia and Romania spoke at the Security Council. There are still speeches by representatives of a number of EU countries.
