The governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov announced the restoration of the railway track after the morning shelling of the Novooskolsky district.
According to the official, the shells partially destroyed the railway tracks in the direction of Stary Oskol-Valuiki. “Operational work was carried out by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and repair teams of the Russian Railways. As a result, the consequences were eliminated in the shortest possible time. Work is now being completed to restore the contact network,” the governor wrote on his Telegram channel. He clarified that the work does not interfere with the movement of trains.
Railways were damaged at five in the morning. Air defense systems shot down missiles in the area of the Novooskolsky district: the remnants of the shells fell in the area of the railway, also damaging power lines. The authorities assessed the damage to the tracks as insignificant.
Since April, an increased level of terrorist danger has been operating in the Belgorod region. During this time, shelling by Ukraine in the region killed several people and damaged hundreds of buildings and structures. Shelling has increased since October, with authorities reporting downed Ukrainian missiles almost every day. Yesterday, October 13, one of them damaged a high-rise building in the regional center. Also in the evening, an ammunition depot in the village of Oktyabrsky, Belgorod region, was fired upon.
