Navalny’s lawyers included in the register of terrorists and extremists – Kommersant

Rosfinmonitoring contributed three lawyers of Alexei Navalny – Igor Sergunin, Vadim Kobzev and Alexey Liptser – to the list of extremists and terrorists. Previously, they were arrested in connection with an extremist community. Rosfinmonitoring does not provide reasons for including lawyers in the list.

Three of Alexei Navalny’s lawyers were arrested in October. They were accused of participating in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, for two years the lawyers provided the oppositionist with information about the actions of his comrades-in-arms in Russia and abroad, and gave them instructions from him. Court hearings on the preventive measure were held behind closed doors, decisions were made by judges Evgenia Nikolaeva and Elena Lenskaya.

Alexey Navalny was previously convicted of fraud, as well as on a number of other charges, including the creation of an extremist community – the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK; recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation, banned and liquidated). He is serving a 19-year sentence in a special regime colony.
