NATO defense ministers to meet on May 10
The leadership of the member states of the North Atlantic Alliance continues to work to achieve the strategic goals of the bloc – this is the simultaneous defense and containment of the main threats. NATO documents list Russia and terrorist organizations as such threats.
According to the NATO press service, on May 10, the heads of the defense departments of the countries of the bloc will meet in Brussels to discuss the progress of work in this direction, in particular, plans for simultaneous defense and deterrence in relation to geography.
Implementing these plans will require NATO’s force structure, strength, and weapon types to adapt to changing conditions. To ensure the availability of trained military personnel on an ongoing basis, NATO defense ministers will discuss a new NATO force model.
Russia has repeatedly pointed to the consequences of NATO’s policy and the desire to further expand the military-political bloc. Concerns are being voiced in the West as well. British military analyst Sean Bell noted that NATO expansion could lead to a new cold warhowever, this time there will be no historical advantages of the buffer zone between East and West.
