The NATO peacekeeping operations center began operating in Kazakhstan. The inauguration of the center was attended by the US Ambassador to the Republic, Daniel Roseblum.
According to the agreements, the Kazakh military will undergo training at the center according to NATO standards.
The relationship between Kazakhstan and NATO is based on the Partnership for Peace framework document and the bilateral military cooperation program between the parties, signed in 1994. Relations between the parties were established even earlier – in 1992, when Kazakhstan joined the North Atlantic Cooperation Council (since 1997, the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council).
Since 2007, the NATO Defense Education Improvement Program (DEEP) has been operating in Kazakhstan together with the Kazakhstan National Defense University.
