NATO chief Stoltenberg told how he learned about the start of hostilities in Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with Agence France-Presse that he was not surprised when he was informed that Russia had begun full-scale military operations on the territory of Ukraine.
According to him, on February 23, 2022, he went to bed, realizing that in a few hours Russian troops could cross the Ukrainian border. He added that “it was a very short night” for him. Stoltenberg expected that “at some stage, within a few hours, someone will wake [его]and that’s exactly what happened.”
The fact that Russia had launched a full-scale military operation was reported to the NATO Secretary General by the chief of staff, who called at about 4.00.
Stoltenberg says he had no doubts about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s determination to act, so he was not surprised by the message he heard that night.
