NATO expressed concern about Russia’s withdrawal from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE). The alliance believes this undermines Euro-Atlantic security, it said in a statement.
“Russia continues to demonstrate disdain for arms control, including the key principles of reciprocity, transparency, compliance and verification,” NATO said.
They believe that Russia is thus violating the international order.
NATO called on countries that share the principles of transparency and reciprocity to join efforts to strengthen stability and predictability in the Euro-Atlantic region. The alliance also said that its members will continue to consult and assess the implications of the current situation for NATO’s security.
Let us recall that on November 7, Russia withdrew from the CFE Treaty.
