Natalia Komarova met with Deaflympics and Paralympians of Ugra

The main reason for the meeting was the successful performance of Ugra athletes in the International Summer Games of Deaflympics “We are together. Sport”, which took place in Ufa from July 23 to August 2.

This year, more than 1,500 athletes from 30 countries of the world took part in the Games. Our athletes won 19 medals. Ardasher Muminjanov won one of the most difficult disciplines – the decathlon. Aleksey Savin from Nyagan and Alexander Sysuev from Surgut became the best in sambo, Georgy Dzotsiev from Khanty-Mansi won freestyle wrestling. Roman and Oksana Simanovskiy, a married couple from Ugra, performed at the games. Roman became a champion in the volleyball team, Oksana won a silver medal in the javelin throw. Well done

Natalya Komarova thanked the Deaflympics and their coaches for their sports success and presented money certificates.

The head of the region added that the government of the autonomous region had decided on one-time scholarships for athletes, athletes with disabilities, their coaches based on the results of the sports competitions “Summer Games of Deaflympians “We are together. Roman and Oksana Simanovskiy, a married couple from Surgut, performed at the Games. Oksana won the silver medal in the javelin throw, Roman won the gold medal as part of the Russia-1 volleyball team.

“I was very worried about my husband, I came to root for almost every game. In turn, his support helped me to perform with dignity and climb the podium,” shared Oksana Simanovskaya.

The title of the strongest sambo wrestler in the 58 kg weight category was won by Alexei Savin from Nyagan. The Ugra resident got a ticket to the Games thanks to the victory at the Russian Championship in May this year. Alexey is a master of sports in two disciplines: sambo and judo. Activists of the Russian Movement of Children and Youth asked the athlete to tell how he started to practice martial arts.

“My family understood that a boy with hearing loss might have difficulty communicating with peers. At one of the family councils, my grandfather said that I should be sent to a section that would develop physically and form the skill of self-defense. That’s how I ended up with Andrey Vladimirovich Degtyannikov, and for 13 years now I can’t imagine myself without SAMBO,” Alexei said.

The meeting with the Governor of Yugra was attended by six-time champions of Russia – sledge hockey club “Ugra”. Athletes told how they are preparing in Khanty-Mansiysk for the upcoming season, which will start in a month.

Since last year, the club has begun to fulfill another important mission – to involve injured participants in a special military operation in Paralympic sports.

“Leaded by the president of the club, Russian senator Eduard Isakov, we began to visit hospitals where wounded soldiers of the Northern Military District receive treatment. During the visits, we communicate, show the modern possibilities of prosthetics, many at first do not even believe that we are Paralympic athletes, they ask to see prostheses,” Vasily Varlakov, defender of the Ugra Sports and Sports Complex, said.

Recall that in March of this year in the capital of Ugra, on the initiative of Eduard Isakov, Senator of the Federation Council from the Autonomous Okrug, the first sports and rehabilitation camps were held. Their participants were 11 veterans of the Northern Military District from seven regions of Russia. Club players held master classes, showed modern possibilities of prosthetics. In July, Artem B. from Kurgan, Damir S. from Donetsk arrived in Khanty-Mansiysk at their own request. Here the fighters try their hand at sledge hockey.

“I really wanted to be part of this team and be useful. You know, it’s so important to be needed. There, at the forefront, I defended the interests of Russia, and it is important for me that even after an injury, I can serve my country by defending the tricolor, but already in the sports arena. I consider it important to inform veterans of the NWO about adaptive sports and its possibilities,” Artem said.

Sledge hockey team coach Alexei Buzyrev praised Artyom for his sports passion and success on the ice and presented the newcomer with the player’s jersey with number 24.

At the end of the event, the governor wished the athletes to conquer new heights.
