Petersburg will host the finals of the Russian Grand Prix in figure skating. It was moved from Sochi – the sporting event will take place in early March. The decision to postpone was not explained in any way by the relevant sports federation. Perhaps such a landmark event will take the city to a new level in this type of competition. MK in St. Petersburg asked the Olympic champion, four-time world figure skating champion Natalia Bestemyanova about the prospects for such a future.
“There are a large number of well-known and even legendary athletes in St. Petersburg. I have a very respectful attitude to the school of figure skating – both pairs and singles. Absolutely phenomenal coaches – Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina, Alexei Nikolaevich Mishin, many young coaches. So it’s a matter of time, ”the figure skater replied.
She also noted that the rivalry between the figure skating schools of Moscow and St. Petersburg has been going on for more than a year. There was a time when this was clearly seen in pair skating, now it is in singles. But today, according to her, in pairs there is no equal to the St. Petersburg school.
