NASA’s lunar mission will try to launch on September 27

NASA has scheduled a new launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) super-heavy launch vehicle with the Orion spacecraft to the Moon as part of the Artemis 1 mission on September 27, the agency’s press service said. Previously, the launch was scheduled for September 23.
As follows from messages, the launch is scheduled for September 27, with October 2 set as a fallback date. The postponement from September 23 is necessary in order to conduct a number of tests.
Artemis 1 is part of a massive US lunar program. It involves flying around the moon and returning back to Earth.
NASA attempted to launch Orion on August 29 and September 3, but the launches were delayed due to a hydrogen leak while fueling the rocket. NASA reported that the leaks were due to a malfunction with refueling equipment. Before the launch, NASA intends spend test loading of SLS tanks with fuel, the test is scheduled for September 17th.
