NASA may launch Artemis lunar mission in late September

NASA is considering September 23 or September 27 as possible dates for sending astronauts to the moon as part of the Artemis mission. This was announced at a press conference by the head of NASA’s Research Systems Development Department, Jim Free.
He explained that the situation with the DART impact probe was taken into account when choosing the date. It is expected to collide with the asteroid Dimorph on September 26 during a test of Earth defense technology. Therefore, it is necessary to launch a lunar mission before or after the probe collides with an asteroid.
Before the launch, NASA intends to conduct a test loading of the fuel tanks of the super-heavy Space Launch System launch vehicle participating in the mission. The test is scheduled for September 17, reports AFP.
Artemis 1 is part of a massive US lunar program. It involves flying around the moon and returning back to Earth.
Artemis 1 was originally supposed to launch on August 29, but due to a technical glitch, it moved on September 3rd. September 3 launch again postponed due to leakage of liquid hydrogen. At NASA spokethat repairs could delay the rocket launch until October.
