NASA has restored communication with the Ingenuity helicopter on Mars – Kommersant

NASA managed restore communication with the Ingenuity helicopter, which is currently on a mission to Mars. Earlier, the space agency said that the previous flight ended prematurely for an unknown reason and work has now begun to test the helicopter’s systems.

Communication with the Ingenuity helicopter was interrupted during the 72nd flight, after which NASA specialists conducted lengthy sessions of listening to the device’s signal. Ingenuity has gone offline before—the last time such an incident occurred was in May 2023. Originally designed for five flights, the Ingenuity helicopter celebrated its 1,000th day on Mars in December 2023 and set a record for longest flight that same month.

Previously NASA rescheduled implementation of its programs for landing astronauts on the Moon Artemis II and Artemis III for September 2025 and September 2026, respectively. Also agency tested laser communication system and transmitted a video of a cat into space.
