NASA denied the fall of an American satellite near Kiev

Information about the fall of an American satellite in the sky over Ukraine is unreliable, since the descent of the device is scheduled for the night of April 20. About it informs “RIA Novosti” with reference to the press service of NASA.
“We are tracking a NASA satellite called RHESSI,” the agency said in a statement. The satellite was still in orbit at the time of comment.
NASA clarified that NASA is working with the US Department of Defense on this issue. The satellite should enter the Earth’s atmosphere around 20.50 Eastern time on April 19 (03.50 Moscow time on April 20) with a possible deviation of +/- 1 hour, they added.
On the evening of April 19, the Ukrainian media, in particular, UNIAN and Strana.ua, published a video with a bright flash in the sky over Kiev. The head of the Kyiv city military administration, Sergei Popko, said that the outbreak was allegedly associated with the fall of a NASA satellite to Earth. He noted that an air alert was announced in the region, but the air defense systems did not work. His words are given in the Telegram channel of the administration.
The RHESSI satellite has been in orbit for almost 21 years, noted at NASA. It was decommissioned in 2018. Until that moment, scientists used the device to monitor solar flares and coronal mass ejections.
The satellite weighs almost 300 kg, the possible place where its fragments fell is not specified. NASA expects most of the spacecraft to burn up in the atmosphere. The likelihood of anyone being harmed by debris was considered low by the agency, at about 1 in 2,467.
