According to the head of NASA Bill Nelson, the Chinese authorities may claim the rights to the territory on the moon in the event of the landing of Chinese astronauts.
In an interview with Politico, he noted that Washington and Beijing are in a space race. “The truth is that we better watch out that the Chinese do not end up in any place on the moon under the pretext of scientific research. In this case, they will say: “Stay away, we are here, this is our territory,” Nelson explained.
The head of NASA expressed the hope that the United States will return to the moon before China arrives there, and drew attention to the successes of Beijing in the past decade.
