The US agency NASA announced that it collected a group of 16 experts to study reports of unidentified flying objects. They will conduct a nine-month independent study starting next week.
The team of experts included retired astronaut Scott Kelly, who spent 520 days in orbit on four separate missions, as well as a science journalist, ocean biologist, CEO of a space technology company, and head of the federal aviation administration.
Thomas Zurbuchen, deputy administrator of NASA’s Office of Science Missions, said the agency intends to honor its promise to investigate all available information about UFOs.
“Understanding the data we have about unidentified aerial phenomena is critical in order to draw scientific conclusions about what is happening in our skies,” he added.
However, the team faces a gigantic task given the sheer amount of data available. Assessors will have to decide for themselves what information to analyze. Based on the results of their work, a roadmap for future research in this area will be created.
